October 31 is New Deadline for the eXtension Fellowship Program

The purpose of the eXtension fellowship program is to provide opportunities for qualified individuals, within or outside of Cooperative Extension, to work on a temporary basis through either sabbatical leave or other contractual arrangements with eXtension on specific projects that contribute to the Initiative as well as to the individual.

Until last year, applications were received and considered on a first-come, first-served basis. Because the number of applications has increased, we found it necessary to change our application procedure to give all applicants an equal opportunity to be selected.

The program will operate on a calendar year basis (i.e., January – December). The deadline for applications will be October 31 for the next calendar year. So, applications for the 2010 calendar year are due by October 31, 2009. Once all proposals are received, they will be reviewed and selections will be made based on proposal merit, contribution to eXtension, and available funding.
