Three excellent panels and 56 breakout sessions highlight the 2012 National Extension Conference, October 1-4 in Oklahoma City. With the theme “Spur on the Evolution of Extension”, appropriately, the first panel is Tuesday, October 2 entitled The Evolution of Extension. The panel of Extension Directors and Administrators will be moderated by ECOP Chair and Texas AgriLife Extension Director, Doug Steele. Other panelists include: Michelle Rodgers, University of Delaware; Tom Coon, Michigan State University; Paul Coriel, Louisiana State University AgCenter; and Mark Latimore, Fort Valley State University.
On Wednesday, October 3, a panel will address “Cooperative Extension’s Global Potential”. Hiram Larew, Director of USDA/NIFA’s Center for International Programs will moderate. Other panelists include: John Yohe, International Sorghum and Millet Collaborative Research Support Program (INTSORMIL); Mark Varner, Board for International Food and Agricultural Development (BIFAD) and International Programs; Julie Middleton, Director of Organizational Development, University of Missouri Extension, and Greg Crosby, National Program Leader USDA/NIFA’s Division of Global Climate Change.
Finally, on Thursday, a panel will address “Developing eXtension’s Partnerships”. Michael Ouart, University of Missouri and eXtension Finance Task Force Chair will moderate. Other panelists include: William Nelson, CHS Foundation (via video recording); Bob Lewis and Ann Michel, Global Advancement, LLC; Jane Schuchardt, Executive Director, Cooperative Extension; and Brent Elrod, National Program Leader, USDA/NIFA’s Division of Family and Consumer Sciences.
Surrounding these outstanding panel discussions are 56 concurrent breakout sessions. Topics range from social media strategies, new learning styles, managing volunteers via technology, marketing, and agent training to presentation skills, open science, virtual conferences, evaluation tools, and more!
