The 2012 eXtension Community of Practice Individual Achievement Award has been awarded to Eric Stafne of Mississippi State University.
According to nominators: “Eric Stafne has been an active participant in the Ask an Expert process, including initiating the setup with the Grape Community of Practice. He has been active in using social media to educate the Grape community of interest. He has used eViticulture twitter to engage audiences (currently over 312 followers) and the eViticulture facebook page has more than 172 likes in less than 6 months of operation Dr. Stafne also uses his own blog with notably more than 4100 views in 2012 and 72 Twitter followers to promote eXtension content for both the Grape and Blueberry Communities of Practice.
“Eric’s enthusiasm and commitment has made the Grape Community of Practice one of the most active in eXtension; he has been the impetus to keep the group on track and on task. According to one nomination letter: ‘Eric is a pleasure to work with, always responsive and receptive to ideas from others, and truly a consummate collaborator and leader; able to interact effectively with a diverse group of extension professionals and industry partners.’
eXtension’s Individual Achievement Award recognizes an individual member of a Community of Practice for exceptional performance and leadership in meeting the needs of Communities of Interest and demonstrated long-term dedication, leadership and contribution toward meeting the needs of Communities of Interest; and their leadership role in fostering the development and growth of the Community of Practice.
