Dan Cotton, eXtension Director, will provide a brief presentation and Greg Crosby and Jane Clary, both with USDA NIFA, will staff an eXtension exhibit at the G-8 Open Data Conference in Washington, D.C. The conference will bring together innovators from all over the world to discuss the importance of open agricultural data to increase food security across the globe, as well as in opening doors for public/private partnerships and economic growth. The conference is April 29 and 30; complete details are at http://bit.ly/XAvh7V.

The conference is intended to obtain commitments from nations and relevant stakeholders to promote policies and invest in projects that open access to publicly funded global agriculturally relevant data streams, making such data readily accessible to users in Africa and world-wide, and ultimately supporting a sustainable increase in food security in developed and developing countries.
