February’s Featured Event: The Winter Safety Game

winter safety game

As Winter 2014 continues to bring historic severe weather to many parts of the USA, eXtension’s redesigned Winter Safety Game opens in February with new content, improved navigation, and more interactivity.

The game, located in Second Life ® is a fun way to learn how to reduce the risk of weather-related health problems by preparing home, animals, and car for winter emergencies. Players assume the role of a Colorado resident traveling across the mountains to surprise Grandma on her 75th birthday. The weather forecast is calling for a severe winter storm, so the driving might be bad. The player will be leaving a housemate at home, and she is worried about staying safe in case of a power outage. There are also the farm animals in the barn to think about.

Score points by interacting with content while encountering a variety of hazardous situations and problems to solve. Collect enough points to access skating, fireworks, and prizes at the birthday party.
