What is the change you are designing to achieve?

Extension is mobilizing community partners and acquiring funding to support the development of a shared measurement system to inform public policy related to food insecurity in Wake County, NC.

How will you measure that change?

  • Were common measures established?
  • What indicators of progress were selected related to these measures?
  • Number of food insecurity partners contributing outcome data to an established data platform;
  • Number of food insecurity partners participating in new venue created for collaborative analysis of data

What is the innovative component or strategy you will implement as a result of the design-a-thon?

Communication Plan identifying core messages for strategic audiences resulting in increased partners, engagement, acquisition of funding and contract development.

How did the design-a-thon help you?

Great experience with colleagues and informants in a low pressure setting. Design thinking, concept mapping, network development, storytelling with and without new technology all emphasized components to strengthen the work. Get clearer; that is leadership!
