What is the change you are designing to achieve?Increasing fruit and vegetable choices among students during school meals through targeted Policy, System, and Environmental interventions at school site(s). How will you measure that change?Policy, System, and Environmental interventions will be mapped by school site as a means to track program efforts over time which will be correlated with fruit and vegetable choices via point of sales data at targeted school(s). What is the innovative component or strategy you will implement as a result of the design-a-thon?To develop a story map that identifies the Family Nutrition Program’s Policy, System, and Environmental interventions by site as a visual communication tool to reinforce the justification for PSE programming. How did the design-a-thon help you? I am not alone in food system development or the associated issues we are all experiencing, and that is a beautiful thing. Together, we can make the changes we wholeheartedly value as people thinking forward. |
Summary:Educated consumers have a collective strength to change entire industries, and I would like to know if students experiencing school garden and nutrition education programs choose more fruits and vegetables during school meals. A positive correlation would shed light on the economic, social, and environmental values of school garden programming utilizing integrated curricula.
