Team Member Caryl Lester said:

What is the change you are designing to achieve?

To enhance our stakeholder’s understanding of local food systems and to personalize their view of families and individuals with food insecurities in our community.

How will you measure that change?

Evaluation tools include process and outcome measures.
Process: Number of stakeholders who participate in hosting our market “Coffee and Conversation” at the Trolley stops.

What is the innovative component or strategy you will implement as a result of the design-a-thon?

To bring our stakeholders from casual interest in our project to a place of personal investment in the local food movement addressing food insecurities community wellness.

How did the design-a-thon help you?

Expanding out our project (in the concept map) revealed a missing foundational issue that we need to address regarding standards of operations.

The Forks Mobile Market and Education Trolley, purchased with a Farmer’s Market Promotion Program grant, will be used at our first agritourism event at Stable Days Youth Ranch. Education will be provided about the importance of supporting our local farmers, the value of local foods for health, for the economy and teaching techniques for gardening, safe preparation of produce, how to reduce food waste.
