Scott County has been in the spotlight as the having the highest county unemployment rate in Tennessee since summer of 2010. The local Extension program has introduced new programming, Grow Scott, as an effort to move the county out of this unwanted spotlight. Grow Scott Program focuses on the education and establishment of agriculture related employment and economic sources for the people of Scott County and in the Region. This goal will be achieved through fruit and vegetable production education, marketing and value added education. Also, the establishments of new food systems using farmers markets and direct sales.
