From Team Leader Randy Seagraves:

What is the change you are designing to achieve?

The development of an online JMG Moodle course for teachers and youth leaders wanting to implement the Learn, Grow,Eat &Go curricula. Ultimately, the change comes as benefits to students: academic achievement, increase in healthy behaviors & decrease in BMI .

How will you measure that change?

Change will be measured through summative evaluation during course and follow up after course completion regarding adoption and implementation of curricula.

What is the innovative component or strategy you will implement as a result of the design-a-thon?

We are implementing concept mapping, online educational strategies, integration of social media, and computer technology applications.

How did the design-a-thon help you?

This process helped us to streamline and provide project clarification and identify gaps that were not addressed in our original proposal.

Summary:

The Learn, Grow, Eat & GO! (LGEG) Extension, Volunteer and Teacher Online Training Course will be a self-directed online Moodle course. It will serve both as a professional development opportunity for extension/volunteers/teachers, as well as, provide a new, electronic curricular option to the LGEG hardcopy curriculum. The course will prepare the teacher/leader, provide needed resources to effectively utilize the LGEG curriculum, and serve Extension faculty/staff and volunteers in their efforts to support school educators and group leaders as they facilitate curriculum implementation.
